mindmapping | sketches & animation



Here you can see the theoretical thoughts behind my idea of a mindmappingmachine. Basically, you enter a word that you want to go mindmapping for. Different factors like the time you need to type your input, the rhythm you do that in and the average time you need to deliver the input. From these factors 3-dimensional canvas is created, on which you are supposed to draw by travelling through the mindmap itself.



Furthermore the stroke is determined by your travelspeed, the time you need for your decisions, the word and what it consists of (letters, wordtype, syllables) and a number of other factors such as described here.



The "product" of this process are a couple of signs, drawn upon an invisible canvas. I think (but I'll have to think more about this to make this statement sure) this way you could even encipher messages.
Anyway, you can see a small example of this at the bottom. The user interface is not implemented yet, you can only see the compass in the lower left corner.



The interface consists of speed control, pre- and reviews, settings and options, a compass and an info box. All of these can be turned off (in order to get a "pure" feeling of the mapping process itself) and the size and opacity of each one is optional as well. A userfriendly interface if you will so.



In the settings menu each and every variable can be set. Tolerances, color and keys, rotation and so on and so forth. This way (and in combination with the "handbreak" and "the foot on the hose", features I describe further in the text) you can always reconsider and change the process while you are still in it.
